    What is the UK Spouse Visa?

    The UK Spouse and Partner Visa is part of the UK Family Visa category. It allows eligible foreign nationals to live in the UK with their British citizen or settled partner.

     

    Important Update: The minimum salary threshold for UK spouse visa applications increased to £29,000 as of 11 April 2024.

    Also referred to as the Partner Visa, this visa enables a foreign national to join their partner in the UK — provided the partner is a:

     

    • British or Irish citizen
    • Holder of Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR), EU Settled Status, or Permanent Residence
    • Individual with refugee status or humanitarian protection
    • Holder of a Turkish Businessperson or Worker visa
    •  

    Note: Marrying a British citizen does not automatically grant the right to live in the UK. A valid visa application is required.

      Who Can Apply?


      You may be eligible if:


      • Your partner meets the UK residency criteria listed above
      • You both intend to live together permanently in the UK
      • You can provide evidence of a genuine and ongoing relationship

      • A genuine and eligible relationship
      • Suitable accommodation in the UK
      • English language proficiency (at least A1 level for initial applications)
      • That the sponsor meets the minimum income threshold of £29,000 (as of April 2024)
